Proud Stories: Isaiah Seward (He/Him/His)

Q: What kind of performance artist are you?
Actor and Musician
Q: When did you first know that you wanted to be a full-time artist?
Once I saw the opportunity present itself to get paid to do what I already enjoyed doing I decided to go for it. In some ways I’ve always been an artist and just needed to figure out how to make a living as one.
Q: How are you keeping yourself inspired to create during this unprecedented time?
I’d be lying if I said that in some ways my inspiration hasn’t been affected negatively at times. But there also have been many moments of concentrated inspiration and I’ve decided to create in those moments and make a conscious effort to not procrastinate since inspiration doesn’t always last forever.
Q: What is the biggest obstacle you’ve had to overcome as an artist and how did you overcome it?
Self-doubt and the overvaluing of outside opinions has been an obstacle in the past and sometimes even today. I think it’s just important to remind yourself that you have to remain confident in the work you’ve put in and keep learning. Also, taking control of who is in your inner circle is important. I remind myself that the opinions of people who aren’t in that circle shouldn’t matter as much as the ones that are inside of it. Every once in a while, I also re-evaluate my circle to see if it’s full of healthy relationships that are beneficial for all parties, and if not, I make the necessary changes.
Q: What are you most proud of in your career thus far?
I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve been able to help other people accomplish their dreams or at least give them something that they can use to take the next step. Giving more than you take is important to me and I’ve gotten a lot from the entertainment business that I may not have deserved at the time. It’s only right to do my best to give something back.
Q: Is there anything you are working on now that can be shared and supported?
As far as music, I’m working on a new EP, and my most recent single Keep Going is available on most streaming platforms. The song highlights current social issues that are affecting society today. As an actor I’m working on a few upcoming projects that I can’t give too much information on yet. But keeping track of what’s happening is easy these days.
