Proud Stories: Bucky Malone (He/Him)

Q: What kind of performance artist are you?

Musician/Writer/Creative Director

Q: When did you first know that you wanted to be a full-time artist?

At the age of 14 maybe 15, I began pursuing a career in rap while in high school.

Q: How are you keeping yourself inspired to create during this unprecedented time?

I’m infatuated with what I do. I believe it’s in me, not on me, because I don’t have to do much to get in the mood or want to create. Sometimes a conversation can ignite it or even a particular situation, good or bad.

Q: What is the biggest obstacle you’ve had to overcome as an artist and how did you overcome it?

Truthfully, just funding my career! Being independent allows you to be fully in control and responsible for your destiny. There have been times when I made investments and they didn’t pan out the way I planned, but you live and you learn.

Q: What are you most proud of in your career thus far?

Honestly, I’m proud of my journey in general, it's been a lot of highlights that I myself tend to look over because things are constantly happening. But if I had to choose it’s between my first time being featured in a Magazine (Woofin) which was in Japan before it was discontinued some years back & Pusha-T co-signing my record “Curious”.

Q: Is there anything you are working on now that can be shared and supported?

My new project The Purple Album featuring Innanet James, Bobby Blaze, & more is available for streaming now. I have some music videos from the album on the way as well as a tour in the works.
